dc.description.abstractVe své práci jsem se zabývala historií matic. Na začátku své práce jsem zkoumala historii determinantů, jejich základní využití, a významné matematiky, kteří k rozvoji determinantů přispěli. Poté jsem se začala věnovat stěžejnímu tématu, a to historii matic. Začala jsem prvními zmínkami o maticích až po jejich skutečný rozvoj. Nejprve jsem se zabývala samotnými zakladateli teorie matic. Zkoumala jsem život a díla Arthura Cayleyho a Jamese Josepha Sylvestera. V závěru své práce jsem uvedla základní vlastnosti matic s názornými příklady a praktické využití matic i v ostatních vědních disciplínách.cs

dc.description.abstract-translatedMy degree thesis deals with the history of matrices. At the beginning of my thesis I have explored the history of determinants, their basic use, and significant mathematicians who contributed to development of determinants. The following pages are dedicated to the cardinal topic - history of matrices. I have begun with the first mentions of matrices followed by the development thereof. At first I was concerned with the founders of the theory of matrices. I investigated the life and work of Arthur Cayley and James Joseph Sylvester. At the end of my degree thesis I presented the basic properties of matrices with illustrations and practical use of matrices in other disciplines.en
