| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce se zabývá bitvou v Ardenách roku 1944, která byla poslední snahou Hitlera zvrátit téměř jistou prohru Německa ve druhé světové válce. Hitler vymyslel plán operace "Wacht am Rhein", který spočíval v útoku v oblasti Arden, překročení řeky Másy a dobytí Antverp. Postup německé armády byl zahájen 16. prosince 1944, během několika dní však Spojenci vytvořili silnou obranu a přešli do protiútoku. Ambiciózní plán tak selhal a již v lednu 1945 Spojenci zatlačili Němce zpět do původních pozic. |
| Abstract in different language: | Bachelor thesis is concerned with the Battle of the bulge in 1944, which was Hitler's last try to overturn almost certain German loss in the World war II. Hitler worked out plan of operation "Wacht am Rhein", which consisted of attacking to the area of the Ardennes, crossing river Meuse and conquering Antwerp. March of German army started on 16th of December 1944, within few days Allies built up strong defense and moved on to the counterattack. Ambitious plan failed and already in january 1945 Allies pushed back Germans to the beginning positions. |
