Vedle problematiky medicínské není v práci opominut ani společenský a politický kontext a je zkoumána i vlastenecká úloha čelných představitelů Druhé vídeňské lékařské školy. Vybrané téma bude zpracováno za použití tradiční metodologie a odborné literatury v českém, německém a anglickém jazyce.
Abstrakt v dalším jazyce: The bachelor thesis is focused on the importance of personalities of Czech origin in the field of medicine within the Second Vienna School of Medicine of the period 1839 - 1871. The main goal of the thesis was to assess which was the role of the school in the field of medicine, having in view also the Czech history, and assess whether is possible to consider the school representatives and their work significant in the worldwide meaning. Applying usual methodology, the author processed key data referring to the key representatives of this group. Having continuously answered further sub-questions, the author declared the Second Vienna School of Medicine being an important and original grouping. The key personalities, such as professors Karel Rokitanský, Josef Škoda, Ferdinand Hebra, Josef Hyrtl and Jakob Kolletschka, had, together with other colleagues and significant followers, strongly influenced the then existing circumstances in the field of medicine, first in Vienna, soon also in Europe, and in the world as well. Each of them contributed to significant and progressive step forward in their own field, and together they started up interdisciplinary cooperation in the medicine. Their modern reforms, implemented both in the Vienna University, and in their branches of medicine, became a model for the then doctors in Europe and around the world. Except for their home country, i.e. within the Habsburg Monarchy, they were also appreciated in the world, being significantly awarded and given privileges. The representatives of the Second Vienna School of Medicine left a very rich legacy for the future generations of doctors and scientists. Not once some of them crossed the borders of their branch even towards the cultural, economic, philosophical or political spheres. Thanks to all these achievements that, even today, are respected worldwide, the fact of which is also evidenced by the referred-to foreign bibliography of the last decades, the school and its representatives deserve to be ranked on an equal basis as other significant personalities of the Czech nation of the 19th century. This statement might inspire further historical researches. Therefore, in the field of medicine, they were identified as significant personalities of its entire history, and thus, they should be certainly subject to further interest of investigators. However, this kind of interest seems to be rather marginal in Czech historiography so far.
