dc.description.abstractTématem mé diplomové práce je "Vliv objevení Nového světa na proměny evropské medicíny a materia medica". Pozornost je zaměřena na proměny v oblasti medicíny a také na důsledky objevení Nového světa, které se promítly do širšího vědeckého diskursu raně novověké vědy. Záměrem práce je přiblížit, jakým způsobem se proměnila a obohatila renesanční a raně novověká evropská léčebná praxe v souvislosti s objevením nových léčivých přírodních produktů Nového světa. První část práce se věnuje střetu empirie s tradicí, který nastal jako důsledek objevení Nového světa. V souvislosti se zkoumáním nových plodin bylo nutně se uchýlit primárně ke zkušenosti jako způsobu poznání, jelikož autoritativní texty, které byly do té doby hlavním zdrojem poznatků, o těchto nových fenoménech již neposkytovaly informace. Druhá část mé práce je zaměřena na obohacení evropské léčebné praxe přírodninami Nového světa. Analyzovány jsou tři vybrané léčivé rostliny, které byly v evropském prostředí přijaty různými způsoby. První rostlinou je guajak, další analyzovanou rostlinou je tabák a poslední je peyotl.cs

dc.description.abstract-translatedThe theme of my diploma thesis is "The Influence of the Discovery of the New World on the Changes of the European Medicine and Materia Medica". The attention is focused on the changes in the area of medicine and also on consequences of the discovery of the New World that reflected into larger scientific sphere of the early modern science. The intention of my thesis is to explain how the renaissance and early modern European medical practice changed and enriched itself in the context of the discovery of new natural medicinal products of the New World. The first part of my work deals with a conflict of the experience with the tradition which occurred as a consequence of the New World discovery. In the context of the examination of new plants it was primarily necessary to use the experience as a way of cognition because the authoritative texts that had been the main source of knowledge till that time did not provide any information about these new phenomena. The second part of my thesis is focused on enriching the European therapeutic practice with the New World natural products. Three selected medicinal plants which have been adopted in different ways in the European environment are analyzed. The first is the guaiacum, another analyzed plant is tobacco and the last one is peyote.en
