Abstract in different language: The impact of the fast voltage impulses on the reliability of insulation systems has been in the centre of interest for years. Till now, a negative impact of the fast voltage impulses have been documented and quantified. The reliability of the insulation is usually compared to the ac sinusoidal voltage. This paper is concerned with the voltage changes through the cable between a load and power inverter. The influence of the cable length on the material livingness was studied. Slew rate was different for different length of the cable between a source and load (e.g. a voltage inverter and asynchronous machine). The results of the research show that overvoltages correspond to parasitic capacities and inductances of the cable and load.
