dc.description.abstract-translatedThe thesis deals with the choirs in the Příbram region and their importance for the region. The author attempts to chart notable moments in the history of choir singing in the three largest towns of the region ? Příbram, Sedlčany and Dobříš ? since the Middle Ages up to the present. In the introduction he describes the essential features of the region and the general history of the above mentioned cultural centres. In the other chapters he provides a brief outline of the development of the choir singing, and then focuses on some representative choirs and their impresarios. Nevertheless, the main sphere of his interest lies in the choirs themselves ? their musical background, standard, repertoire, successful performances and concerts, current issues and outstanding personalities associated with them. Since 1989 there has been described 7 children´s choirs, 7 mixed chamber choirs of adults and 2 vocally instrumental groups in the Příbram region.en
