Abstrakt: | To efficiently handle the continuously increasing raw point data-set sizes from high-resolution laser-range scanning devices or baseline stereo and multi-view 3D object reconstruction systems, powerful geometry processing solutions are required. We present a flexible and run-time configurable system for efficient out-of-core geometry processing of point cloud data that significantly extends and greatly improves the stream-based point processing framework introduced in [29]. In this system paper we introduce an optimized and run-time extensible implementation, a number of algorithmic improvements as well as new stream-processing functionality. As a consequence of the novel and improved system architecture, implementation and algorithms, a dramatically increased performance can be demonstrated as shown in our experimental results. |
