Abstract: This paper is intended to the discussion of possible methods for the solution of the motion equations of constrained multibody systems. They can be formulated in the form of differential-algebraic equations and their numerical solution brings the problems of constraint violation and numerical stability. Therefore special methods were proposed to handle these problems. Various approaches for the numerical solution of equations are briefly reviewed and the application of the Baumgarte’s stabilization method on testing examples is shown. The paper was motivated by the effort to find the suitable solution methods for the equations of motion in the form of differentialalgebraic equations using the MATLAB standard computational system.
