Abstract: The paper describes an algorithm for optimal design of the phase conductors in double-circuit three-phase overhead lines that are characterised by balanced voltage and current systems. A suitable transposition of individual conductors enables to reduce the electric and magnetic fields in its vinicity. The procedure is illustrated on several examples whose results lead to particular recommendations for designers.
