Abstract in different language: The development of anthroponyms in the Czech lands may be characterised as the development from one-word names to current names consisting of a first name and a fixed surname. The two-word name structure began to arise gradually in the second half of the 13th century. The form of personal names in Olomouc was clearly influenced by the existence of a bilingual Czech-German language environment that existed in the town at the time. The article summarises the existing results of an on-going analysis of Olomouc’s documented written resources deposited in the State District Archives in Olomouc and partly in the Olomouc branch of the Provincial Archives of Opava. The article outlines the historical development of personal names of the citizens of Olomouc.
