dc.description.abstractKonflikt v Severním Irsku je konfliktem dlouhodobým. Začal už ve středověku. Hlavní problém nastal po přijetí protestantské církve Tudorovci. Imigranti ze Skotska a Velké Británie se rovněž k této církvi přihlásili. Protestantští unionisté odmítali přijímout katolickou církev, kterou vyznává většina irského obyvatelstva. To se stalo počátkem diskriminace katolického obyvatelstva. Severní Irsko bylo od Irska odděleno roku 1920. Na jedné straně stáli unionisti, kteří stáli o zachování unie s Velkou Británií a na straně druhé nacionalisti, kteří usilovali o samostatné Irsko. Po uzavření Anglo-irské dohody začaly rozsáhlé demonstrace a útoky ze strany IRA za samostatné Irsko. Důsledkem toho začala nová politika za zlepšení vztahů Velké Británie se Severním Irskem. Největším úspěchem byla Velkopáteční dohoda z roku 1998, která zaručovala katolickému obyvatelstvu respekt a bezpečnost. Vztahy Velké Británie se Severním Irskem jsou momentálně stabilní.cs

dc.description.abstract-translatedThe issue of conflict in Northern Ireland is a long-lasting conflict. It began in the middle ages. The main problem was after establishment of the Protestant Church from Tudor dynasty. Because immigrants from Scotland and Great Britain took Protestant Church also. In contrast of that is Catolic Church which endorse most of the Irish population. The Protestants unionists refused to recocognised Catolic church. That was a start of discrimination againts catolics population. Northern Ireland was separated from rest of Ireland under the Government of Ireland Act in 1920. Northern Ireland was formed of six from the nine counties of Ulster. On the one hand, there were unionists who wanted to be part of the United kingdom and but on the other hand nationalists who wanted independent state of Ireland. After Anglo-irish agreement there were some demonstrations and rebellions especially by Irish Republican Army. There was discrimination in eployment, particulary in the public sector and because of Stormont partliament nationalists did not have almost any rights to influence Irish policy. There were lots of demonstrations and attacks from both sides. After that started a new policy for better relationship between Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Biggest success was the Good Friday agreement in 1998. Which brought respect and security for catolics population. In 2005 IRA oficially announced an end to its armed campaign. Relationship between unionists and nacionalist and between Great Britain is now stable.en
