Abstract in different language:	The thesis aims to acquaint teachers, students of teacher training programs and the broader public with the functioning of special primary schools. It characterises pupils with special educational needs and presents a classification of mental disabilities. The thesis describes special education needs, specific support measures and procedures in teaching pupils with mental disabilities and pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorders at special primary schools. It focuses on Crafts classes and presents implemented activities in which the pupils were involved. It examines whether it is possible to facilitate learning of properties of different materials by observation or by experimental activities executed by pupils with severe mental disabilities.
