| cs |

dc.description.abstract-translated | This master's thesis is focused on different ways of modeling 3D woven composite materials using the finite element method in VPS software. The aim of the work was to analyze the results of models of standardized tensile, compressive and shear tests and compare them with experiments. The Voxel, 3D yarns and Shell approaches were used to discrete the yarns and matrix to create models of 3D woven composites. The Voxel approach discretizes the whole model by a regular mesh, which is divided into yarn and matrix elements. For 3D yarns, precise discretization of the yarns and a regular matrix mesh are used. In the Shell approach, the yarn is discretized by the shell elements that are located at the position of the middle plane of the yarn. First, the results of simulations of differently loaded representative volume elements (RVE), which represent an infinitely repeating structure because of the application of periodic boundary conditions at the RVE boundary, were compared with each other and with experiments. To determine the material parameters of the yarn and the material parameters of the fabric, a multiscale homogenization was done in the VPS computing environment. Then, models of standardized tests were created, where the properties of the samples are described by homogenized material parameters of the fabric. The same samples were created by copying Voxel RVE and Shell RVE into the geometry of the composite samples used in the standardized tests. | en |
