| Abstract: | Předmětem bakalářské práce jsou sankce OSN, se zaměřením na sankce na vývoz diamantů uvalené na přelomu dvacátého století na Sierru Leone a Libérii. Práce předpokládá, že dané sankce přispěly k ukončení konfliktů, které v devadesátých letech probíhaly v těchto západoafrických státech. V úvodu je vysvětlena problematika sankcí.Dále jsou objasněny charakteristické znaky západoafrických konfliktů a rozpracována problematika konfliktních diamantů. Poté je popsán průběh konfliktů v Sierra Leone a Libérii. V poslední kapitole jsou komparovány čtyři vybrané ukazatele v obou zemích v období před a po uvalení sankcí, pomocí kterých je hodnocena úspěšnost sankcí na vývoz diamantů. |
| Abstract in different language: | This thesis focuses on diamond sanctions imposed on Sierra Leone and Liberia on the edge of twentieth century. These sanctions prohibit import of rough diamonds from the conflict states. The thesis argues that the sanctions contributed to the resolution of armed conflicts in the countries through restrictions of the diamond smuggling from Sierra Leone to Liberia. Firstly, implemetation of UN sanction is explained. Then, typical features of west-african conflicts and conflict diamonds are examined. Further, conflicts in Sierra Leone and Liberia are outlined. Last part analyzes four chosen indicators in the period before and after the implementation of the diamond sanctions in both countries. |
