Abstract in different language: | One of the main objectives of the United Nations Security Council is to deal with threats to international peace and security. In connection with failed states and the threats of terrorist attacks it is important to account for the security of civilians and populations. Unfortunately human security was not one of the main objectives of security until 1990s when the third world authors started to criticize existing approaches to security studies. The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze how human security reflected itself in the content of United Nations Security Council agenda, mainly in its resolutions and in mandates of peacekeeping operations from 1990 do April 2006 when agenda of Responsibility to Protect was accepted. There is also a question about the form in which human security was mentioned in UNSC resolutions and mandates of peacekeeping operations - freedom from fear, freedom from want or both forms. |
