| Abstract: | Cílem disertační práce DisORIENTation: Ethnography of Power in the Visual Art Scene of Marrakech je jít zpět k původnímu kontextu v rámci jedné konkrétní lokality ? města Marrákeše v Maroku, v ohraničeném časovém období popsat a vysvětlit vztahy mezi jednotlivými aktéry na poli současné umělecké produkce. Autorka se dotazuje, jaké podmínky utváří svět současného umění v dané lokalitě a proč dochází k jeho orientalizaci, exoticizaci a mýtizaci v mezinárodním prostředí. Výzkum sleduje povahu mocenských vztahů mezi aktéry, jimiž jsou v zásadě kulturní instituce, ale i jednotlivců významného postavení, kteří určují nejen hodnotu uměleckých počinů, ale konstruují i reprezentace, která tato díla doprovází. |
| Abstract in different language: | The aim of the dissertation thesis DisORIENTation: Ethnography of Power in the Visual Art Scene of Marrakech is to describe and analyse the field of contemporary visual art in Marrakech within a specific time, where the author is taking into account the Western forms of dominance. She asks: what conditions shape the world of contemporary art in a defined locality, which is constructed as oriental, exotic and which is being mythicized on an international level. The presented research is tackling the power relations between the various actors involved in the emergence of the Orientalist discourse rearticulated according to the novel interest intersections in situ. The ethnographical text, as well, examines the power positions of individuals, who determine not only the value of works of art but also construct the representations that accompany these works. |
