| Abstract: | Cílem této práce je představení velšské sportovní paradiplomacie. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. První část je věnována sportovní diplomacii obecně, kde jsou představeny jednotlivý aktéři a nástroje sportovní diplomacie. Tato část usnadní čtenáři lépe se orientovat v části druhé, která je již zaměřena na sportovní diplomacii v případě Walesu a opakovaně se zde objevují právě jednotlivý aktéři a nástroje. Část o velšské sportovní paradiplomacii je rozdělena na tři části. První část je věnována strategii velšské sportovní diplomacie, zda nějaká strategie existuje a zda je možné vytvoření rozsáhlé specifické strategie sportovní diplomacie, kterou například disponuje Austrálie. Další část se zabývá pořádáním mezinárodních sportovních akcí. Na území Walesu dochází pravidelně ke konání mnoha významných mezinárodních akcí a tyto akce mají značný ekonomický dopad na města, které je hostí, ale i na samotný Wales. Poslední část představuje dva významné aktéry, a to velšskou fotbalovou a ragbyovou reprezentaci. Oba týmy zažívají v posledních letech značné úspěchy a jejich účast na mistrovstvích světa a Evropy může být využita k naplnění zahraničněpolitických cílů Walesu. |
| Abstract in different language: | This bachelor thesis aims to introduce a Welsh sports paradiplomacy, a regularly mentioned topic in the last few years in Wales. This thesis explains why is sport so important for the Welsh government and how is it used for maximising the benefits for the country. The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first chapter generally focuses on sports diplomacy. In this chapter, I introduce the main actors who participate in the activities of sports diplomacy and the essential tools used for achieving the goals of sports diplomacy. I frequently mention specific Welsh actors and tools used by them throughout the second chapter, and that is why it was necessary to introduce them first. The following chapter deals with three main issues. The first is the possibility of a specific Welsh sports diplomacy strategy. The last few years saw an emergence of multiple publications that focus on sports in Wales and their usability for achieving foreign policy goals. The latest publication by Stuart Murray and Gavin Price gave the strategy the green light as they found the creation of such sports diplomacy strategy feasible. The next part focuses on hosting international sporting events. There are four different categories of such sporting events that the Welsh government considers. I focus on the first two that have the most significant impact on the Welsh economy. In the final part, I explain why are the rugby and football national teams and their participation in World and European Cups important. The perfect example of this is the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. The Welsh government prepared a large trade delegation to promote Wales in Japan, explore new business opportunities and strengthen existing links between the two countries. |
