| Abstract: | Práce se zabývá invazí vojsk USA do Iráku v roce 2003 prizmatem spravedlivé války. V rámci teoretické části se opíráme zejména o teorii Michaela Walzera, se kterou následně komparujeme analyzovaný případ. Zahájení preventivní války v Iráku je považováno za nejkontroverznější prvek Bushovy vlády, tudíž se v teorii spravedlivé války soustředíme i na preventivní (preemptivní) válku. Někteří autoři v současné době reletivizují tradiční rozdíl mezi těmito dvěma koncepty. Na základě komparace jsme došli k závěru, že válka v Iráku nebyla spravedlivá, avšak USA se nedopustily agrese. Hlavním problémem byla absence důkazů o vlastnění nekonvenčních zbraní v rukou Sadáma Husajna a o jeho propojení s teroristickými organizacemi. |
| Abstract in different language: | The work is focused on the Iraq invasion by the USA in 2003 through the perspective of just war. The first part of the thesis deals with the just war theory with an insight into the history, and we emphasize on Michael Walzer, who is considered to be one of the most influencial political philosophers at present. The invasion was compared to Walzer´s theory of aggression and to a preemptive (preventive) use of force, too. Nowadays, the distinction between preemptive and preventive use of force may be relativized. Several authors think possesing weapons of mass destruction can be just cause for launching war, however there has to be clear evidence. The war in Iraq was unjust. Neither material evidence of possesing weapons of mass destruction nor connecting with Al-Qaeda existed, but in Walzer´s perspective, the USA did not commit aggression. |
