| Abstract: | Tato práce se zabývá lidovou operou Porgy a Bess a využívá ji jako prostředek k popsání sociální situace černošské menšiny ve Spojených státech na počátku 20. století. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř základních celků, které se zabývají jednotlivými problematikami. První část nastiňuje s pomocí deskriptivní metody vývoj postavení černochů ve společnosti od jejich příchodu na americký kontinent až po velkou migraci na začátku 20. století. Následuje část zabývající se jazzovou hudbou, zaměřená převážně na newyorský, respektive harlemský jazz 20. let 20. století. S pomocí deskripce jsou zde podány základní informace týkající se tohoto okruhu. Třetí část je výčtem tvorby skladatele George Gershwina, autora opery Porgy a Bess, a poslední se zabývá samotnou operou. První část této kapitoly popisuje vznik a přijetí tohoto díla a druhá polovina se ji snaží zanalyzovat. Komparativní metodou dochází práce k závěru, že opera odráží sice jen část černošské společnosti a tudíž jen určité aspekty jejích podmínek ve společnosti, ale v celku se jí podařilo velmi dobře zachytit atmosféru doby a vyobrazit základní pilíře postavení černochů ve společnosti. |
| Abstract in different language: | This work deals with a folk opera called Porgy and Bess and uses it to describe a social status of an African-American minority group in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. The work is divided into four parts devoted to particular issues. Using the descriptive method the first part outlines the development of status of the African-Americans from their arrival to the American continent to the big migration at the beginning of the 20th century. The following part deals with jazz music, New York Jazz, particularly Harlem Jazz of the twenties of the 20th century. There is an explanation of basic information regarding this topic using descriptive method. The third part consists of a list of George Gershwin's work, the author of the Porgy and Bess opera, the last part focuses on the opera itself. The first part of this chapter describes the conception and acceptance of this work and the second part tries to analyse it. The outcome of the comparative method is that opera reflects only a part of the African-American society and only several aspects of its living conditions, nonetheless it captures the spirit of the age very well and depicts the basic pillars of its social status. |
