Abstract in different language: This bachelor thesis treats the topic of Spanish regionalism. It concerns its formation and changes in four historical regions - Basque Country, Catalonia, Galicia and Andalusia. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first, theoretical part of this thesis, presents the concepts of regionalism, federalism, the process of decetralization etc. The second part of this thesis described the political system of Spain and the party system in the four selected regions. It presents the differences between the regional parties and it depicts the political spectrum of Spain. Chapter three and four are the essential chapters of this thesis. They treat the subject of the formation of the individual regions and they also show the historical context which led these regions to their regional demarcation. By describing the particular changes, processes and periods, the thesis thus presents their way towards their autonomous status. The important part of this thesis is the chapter which describes the transformation of the Spanish kingdom from the undemocratic regime of Francisco Franco to the democratic system headed by a new king Juan Carlos. This chapter mainly treats the topic of how these historical regions were formed in the period of Francoist Spain, what their achievements were and how they helped the regions gain their autonomous status among the first. The last part of the thesis describes the changes and the political situation at the beginning of the 90?s. It thus discusses the entry of Spain into the EC and it mentions one of the EU assemblies, the Committee of the Regions, which cannot be neglected in the case of this regional state. The conclusion of this thesis presents the findings from the individual chapters and it answers the main guestion posed in the introduction of the thesis. It mainly concerns the aim of this thesis, it explains how the regions gained their autonomous status among the first, what competence they acquired and whether the change was beneficial for them or not.
